If you’re not one of the lucky few who can afford a $250,000 ticket to space with Virgin Galactic, don’t fret — the New Museum has a seat for you. The fifth-floor gallery is transformed into the interior of a spaceship for its new sci-fi exhibition, “Report on the Construction of a Spaceship Module,” inspired by spacecraft in the Czech science fiction film Ikarie XB-1 (1963). The show challenges traditional ways art is exhibited and how curators present work by diverse artists in various mediums. Around the ship will be 117 artworks, including video, sculpture, print, and installation, by artists hailing primarily from Eastern Europe.
Wednesdays-Sundays, 11 a.m. Starts: Jan. 29. Continues through April 13, 2014
