To anybody who fears the borough has been overrun by frail yuppies subsiding on kale: Get on down to the Brooklyn Beefsteak and get proved wrong. You’d be hard-pressed to find a feast any more American than this annual beef and beer extravaganza. It’s all-you-can-eat-and-drink, which is probably more of a challenge than an invitation considering the heaps of sliced steak and endless McSorley’s Light and Dark this event promises to deliver. Dig in with your hands (no forks and knives here) as Susquehanna Industrial Tool & Die Co. take it away with their Appalachian hillbilly rock. Even those who actually wear their Sunday best to this glorious grease bath are spared — everyone takes home a souvenir apron. So suit up and help prove how brawny Brooklyn can be. There’s nothing ironic about clogged arteries.
