The Lower East Side has certainly gone through its share of changes since James Delancey farmed there in the 1700s. East Side Stories is an annual play festival packed with works that explore the neighborhood’s history (such as the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire) as well as its present (gentrification battles). It starts tonight with a reception before getting into three weeks’ worth of plays, including two programs of monologues based on interviews with residents, told entirely in their own words.
Mondays-Sundays, 7 p.m. Starts: April 14. Continues through May 4, 2014
