For the next four months, artist-in-residency Jeanine Oleson will carefully study different kinds of voices, from the musical voice of opera to political acts of speech, and we will be her subjects. “Hear, Here” includes interrelated new works, public programs, workshops, a publication, and an experimental opera (June 13 through 14) that ask questions such as “How can we attune ourselves to each other?” and “What does it really mean to listen?” This extensive analysis of sound and language also features a video installation that investigates conditions of spectatorship, and an archival and research-based presentation that focuses on various registers of voice. So, speak up!
