On Wednesday, April 30, and Thursday, May 1, former Glasserie chef Sara Kramer and sous chef Sarah Hymanson teamed up to create a four-course meal at City Grit (38 Prince Street). Part of the venue’s “Next Big Thing” series, the dinner featured Kramer’s signature Middle Eastern touches.
While the Next Big Thing series is meant to give a glimpse into rising stars’ future plans, Kramer and Hymanson gave no indication of what they’re plotting, but their food spoke volumes about their vision and teamwork. After an amuse-bouche of lamb tartare on a freekeh cracker, diners enjoyed romaine salad with rhubarb and cacao nibs, trumpet mushrooms with spring vegetables and clams, chicken two ways with ramps and sunflower seeds on a sunchoke puree, and sweetpea and sesame panna cotta.
