Here Are Three Great Cheap Eats in NYC

We’re in the middle of restaurant opening season, and it seems that high-profile new spots are popping their doors open at a breathtaking rate. If you’ve spent a little too much cash pursuing meals at these newcomers, give your wallet a break. Here are three restaurants offering meals for less than $10 — and at one of them, you can eat ramen and drink beer for less than five bucks.

Brunch at Norman’s Cay, 74 Orchard Street, 646-481-1229
This Caribbean restaurant opened last fall in an Orchard Street address we think might be cursed — several of its previous tenants have barely lasted a year. It’s worth stopping in for brunch here, though, when much of the menu goes for less than $10. Our favorite? The jerk chicken, which comes with spring peas and tart tomatoes.

Late night sushi at Enjuu, 20 East 17th Street, 646-336-7004
This Union Square sushi takeout counter starts seeing a line around 8:45 p.m. That’s because at 9, everything in its refrigerated case is discounted 50 percent. You’ll want to get there early, but you should be able to snag a decently priced chirashi bowl or a couple of rolls and still come in well under your $10 budget.

Tuesday lunch deal at Hinomaru Lucky Cat, 232 East 53rd Street, 212-838-5333
This midtown lunch spot is offering a ridiculous deal on its shoyu ramen for the entire month of May: pop in on a Tuesday between noon and 1 p.m., and you’ll get a bowl of soup plus a beer for $3. Should you embrace the savings, though, prepare to nap all afternoon.
