This Week’s Top Four Happy Hour Specials – 5/21/2014

Before heading out of town for Memorial Day weekend, toast your office buddies and those friends that never leave the city with a few cheap drinks. Here are four places to take into consideration.

BarKogi, 957 Second Avenue

This midtown east spot is known for its tasty and cheap chicken wings, but it’s the deal on beers that make happy hour here complete. From 4 to 7 p.m., all draft beers are half off, and you’ll find 20 brews total on the line-up. Beers range from $4 to $11 at full price and include everything from Coors to the Belgian brew Pauwel Kwak. There are also $3 Bushmills shots and $5 sake and shoju bombs, while glasses of sangria and wine are $5 each.

Yuca Bar, 111 Avenue A

From 1 to 8 p.m., snack on tapas while enjoying $4 beers or $6 sangria at this long time Alphabet City fixture down the street from Tompkins Square Park. Cocktails like mojitos, frozen margaritas, and caipirinhas are $7, too. The restaurant features several daily specials, like Brazilian night on Thursdays, when you’ll get select drinks and food specials. On Sundays, grub like taquitos and quesadillas is half off.

Brinkley’s Broome Street, 406 Broome Street

If choosing between beer, wine, and well drinks isn’t your strong point, this relaxed neighborhood bar offers them all for the same price of $6 between 4 and 7 p.m. Beers on tap include local brew Alphabet City Easy Blonde and Greenport Harbor Ale, and there’s also a selection of reds and whites from Long Island’s North Fork. The bar has a full menu of dishes like duck fat fries, burrata, and sliders, too.

Asia Roma, 40 Mulberry Street

If you’re between Chinatown and Little Italy but can’t decide where to eat, make it a point to seek out this restaurant’s bar-only happy hour. For a dollar a platter, dumplings, clams casino, and chicken wings can all be yours, while $5 gets you any cocktail made with house liquor. There’s also beer starting at $3 and $5 glasses of wine. If you’re really in the mood to celebrate, you can drop $5 for most any shot you can think of — and the restaurant also has karaoke on standby.
