Four Restaurants That Opened In NYC This Week – 6/20/2014


When one restaurant’s doors close, another restaurant’s doors open in fast-paced New York City, and every Friday, we’ll fill you in on what opened up around town this week. This week: a healthy fast casual chicken joint in the Financial District, a classy new spot to grab a drink, and a chef returns to his former space in Williamsburg.

Fields Good Chicken, 101 Maiden Lane, 646-895-6831

After finding that there were a lack of grilled and roasted chicken options in the fast food industry, Field Failing decided to take matters into his own hands. He’s filling the void with Fields Good Chicken, a quick and healthy poultry option. Earlier this week, Failing told us that he wants to cater to “people during the work day looking for a quick meal with good quality food.” Fields Good Chicken is open Monday through Saturday 11a.m. to 10 p.m.

Il Mulino Prime, 331 West Broadway, 212-226-0020

The Il Mulino team has opened Il Mulino Prime, a steakhouse. Though some of the Italian dishes from the Il Mulino chain grace the menu, this 77-seat space focuses more on beef and bison. Quotes from author Ernest Hemingway grace the white walls as do a few fake taxidermy heads.

Meadowsweet, 149 Broadway, Brooklyn, 718-384-0673

Named for the herb, Meadowsweet is Polo Dobkin’s return to the space that once housed Dressler, where he was the chef. Dobkin’s menu includes classic items such as roast chicken, pan roasted scallops, and salmon tartare. Pastries come from Dover alum Jared Rubin. Meadowsweet is open for dinner daily.

The Nomad Bar, 10 West 28th Street, 347-472-5660

Located next to the Nomad Hotel, The Nomad Bar is a throwback to classic New York. With leather booths, a fireplace, and a mirrored bar, the ambiance of the the bi-level space is perfect for sipping on a stiff cocktail. But be sure to take note of the extensive menu, as well: Chicken pot pie features black truffle and foie gras, and not one but three tartares are offered. The Nomad Bar is open nightly.
