When one restaurant’s doors close, another restaurant’s doors open in fast-paced New York City, and every Friday, we’ll fill you in on what opened up around town this week. This week was a slow one for openings, but here are a pair of new entrants.
Ariel’s Tapas, 293 East Houston Street, 212-982-3222
Ariel’s Tapas Lounge has taken over the former Pinalito City space. Look for Latin American fare like empanadas; Bowery Boogie reports the space itself has lost the down-home vibe of its predecessor and instead boasts marble bars and lacquered metal seating.
Pacifico’s Fine Foods, 798a Franklin Avenue, Brooklyn, 917-966-2670
Shanna Pacifico, the former chef at Back Forty, is leading the kitchen at Pacifico’s Fine Foods, a Brazilian-American restaurant in Crown Heights. The fish- and vegetable-heavy menu includes dishes like quinoa-crusted mahi mahi and chilled cucumber and buttermilk gazpacho. Pacifico’s Fine Foods is open for dinner nightly.
