Hundreds of thousands of people marched down Fifth Avenue to mark the 45th anniversary of the 1970 Stonewall Riots, the events that spawned America’s gay and later LGBT rights movement. Laverne Cox, Rea Carey and Jonathan Groff were the 2014 Grand Marshals and were joined by New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and family. “Over 300 unique marching contingents, representing a vast array of non-profits, community organizations, corporate sponsors, small businesses, political candidates and activists” and more than 50 floats were part of this year’s parade.
