In 1987, the Dirty Dancing soundrack sold 32 million copies, making it the 15th or so bestselling album of all time. That also happens to make the steamy Catskills love mix a ripe selection for Dana Rossi’s The Soundtrack Series, a live show and podcast about the music that stuck with us and the movies it justified watching over and over. At tonight’s special Dirty Dancing installment, Rossi hosts comedians Selena Coppock and James Bewley as they share their favorite songs and tell stories of trying to learn the movie’s iconic routines, making up their own dirty dance moves and fantasizing about the hunky Mr. Swayze. Then relive the romance (and feathered hairdos) with a screening of the film.
