When one restaurant’s doors close, another restaurant’s doors open in fast-paced New York City, and every Friday, we’ll fill you in on what opened up around town this week. This week was a slow one for openings, but here are a pair of new entrants.
Balvanera, 152 Stanton Street, 212-533-3348
Argentine Chef Fernando Navas (formerly of Sushi Samba and Nobu) is bringing his country’s cuisine to New York City. Located in the what used to be Azul Bistro, Balvanera will serve a menu of Argentinean dishes. The restaurant is still waiting on its liquor license, but wine and beer is available.
Crabby Shack, 613 Franklin Avenue, Brooklyn 718-484-1507
Crabby Shack in Crown Heights is now open after a successful Kickstarter campaign. Owners and best friends Gwen Woods and Fifi Bell-Clanton are serving up a seafood-centric menu of crab cake sliders, crab mac and cheese, crab rolls, and crab tacos. Earlier this week, Woods told us that the partners chose the Crown Heights space after “looking for an emerging neighborhood.” Crabby Shack opens daily at 3 p.m.
