A new location, a new time, and a lineup of new stars and old favorites make the 33rd Annual Downtown Dance Festival an essential stop en route to an evening cruise on the Staten Island Ferry: a double-header of free events guaranteed to impress a date or your parents. Two different shows nightly: opening day today features the Vanaver Caravan in Turn, Turn, Turn, dedicated to the late Pete Seeger, and new works by Mazzini Dance Collective and the host troupe, Battery Dance Company. On Monday, the lovely Isadora Duncan troupe led by Lori Belilove shares the evening with ballet companies; Tuesday features the superb Dorrance Dance tappers; and so on through August 21. Each evening concludes with open dancing for the audience.
