Tonight, Slideluck, a community project that melds multimedia slideshows with potluck dinners in cities around the globe, comes to Photoville, a pop-up village on Brooklyn’s Pier 5. For Slideluck NYC XVIII, a temporary exhibition, freight containers have been lined up along the waterfront and transformed into galleries, featuring the work of both emerging and seasoned artists, which visitors can browse for free. Slideluck’s show, curated by Gideon Jacobs (creative director at Magnum Photos NY) and Matthew Leifheit (photo editor at Vice), unfolds in the neighboring beer garden, so you can grab drinks and a bite while you watch. The visual narratives come from a range of creatives, but center on the same subject: secrets. Come see how this titillating theme plays out against the backdrop of the Manhattan skyline.
