Pop’s latest grunge-glam princess, Charli XCX is bringing her spunky sashay to Manhattan tonight. Topping a stacked bill that includes more girl power pop — Elliphant and Femme — Charli will take the stage and, hopefully, reveal some of what she’s been working on for her sophomore album, Sucker. The record was originally slated to come out in just a few weeks, on October 21, but she recently pushed the release to December 16 in order to fine-tune. Along with her solo work, Charli has been writing hit songs like Icona Pop’s “I Love It” and is featured on Iggy Azalea’s unstoppable “Fancy,” so no one is questioning her industry instincts. A veteran as both a performer and a writer, Charli continues to grow into her role as a pop star who isn’t afraid to color outside the lines and bring alternative sounds into her synthy, fierce music. Catch her now while you can still see her outside of arenas.
