At a glance, the work of School of Visual Arts graduate Dilek Baykara is stunning, but look a little closer and be prepared to be completely floored by the intricate detail populating her hand-inked illustrations of branches, cherubs, and wicked women. Her perennial themes of darkness and mystical femininity bleed together into truly awe-inspiring works of art. She has created posters for the likes of Swans, Eyehategod, High on Fire, Saint Vitus, and more, in addition to skate decks for Brooklyn’s KCDC skate company and shirt designs and album artwork for various bands. Dilek most recently appeared in a show at the lauded Last Rites gallery, and is surely working on more black magic as we speak.
