Best Food Hall

by

After languishing untethered from the World Trade Center for more than a decade, the Winter Garden’s suddenly connected to the downtown dining scene thanks to Hudson Eats at Brookfield Place, an open-plan cafeteria for Condé Nast editors, ferry commuters, FiDi tourists, and Battery Park locals sick of Shake Shack and not desperate enough for El Vez. The second-floor hall’s outlets eschew the typical food-court fast-food joints for outposts of hotspots like Umami Burger, Mighty Quinn’s, and Black Seed Bagels, and lines are often shorter here than they are at these concepts’ flagships. Take your meal to a table, where you can look out over the harbor, or, when the weather’s nice, wander down the stairs to the courtyard.
