People have said that Curtis Samuel‘s highlight reel looks like a video game, but that’s not really true. Not even the most dedicated Madden gamers could make their virtual running backs do what Samuel did for Erasmus Hall High last season, when he averaged an eye-popping 16 yards-per-carry. He is very fast and very strong, but his eyes are the nexus of his superpowers. If the field’s a chessboard, Samuel sees three moves ahead. In 2013 he zigzagged around blockers and defenders, bursting through the thinnest of holes and stopping on dimes on the way to more than 1,400 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns, leading Erasmus to the PSAL semifinals. No need to stress if you didn’t get a chance to watch him, though. It’s likely you’ll see plenty of Curtis Samuel over the next four years as the Brooklyn native showcases his talents at Ohio State.
