Iron Force only came together about a year ago, but its four members are stuck in the ’80s in a big way — from their squealing solos and scraggly long hair down to guitarist Curt Johnston’s “Thrash ’til Death” tattoo. Their ballsy, razor-edged speedmetal swirl harkens back to the glory days of Banzai Records, seamlessly welding shards of Venom, Sodom, and Possessed into one gloriously grimy sonic assault. They’re a breath of fresh air in a scene that often takes itself far too seriously, and a welcome addition to the trashy street-metal legions that Villains and Syphilitic Lust have been championing for years. On the heels of last year’s “Executed” demo and “Bootleg Up Your Ass” live demo comes Iron Force’s debut full-length, Dungeon Breaker, which is due out this fall on Dying Victims Records. Until then, catch them sleazing it up on a stage near you. Up the Irons!
