It’s Pat Kiernan. Always and forever. Seventeen years at NY1 and our love for this Calgary-born beefcake is as ardent as ever. It’s safe to say that 17 years from now, long after his sandy hair has turned silver, his crinkly eyes and Canadian wit will still be making us swoon. Love for Kiernan is as universal among New Yorkers as hatred for his employer, Time Warner Cable. It transcends boundaries of age, race, class, and — as punk band the Tracys sing in their 2014 tribute to Kiernan and reporter Roger Clark — viewers’ sexual orientation: “My God, I think I love you/Roger and Pat/Even though I’m also a dude/Roger and Pat, Roger and Pat, Roger and Pat, Roger and Pat/I LOVE YOU.”
