Don’t confuse this place with aughts-era favorite Flatiron Lounge a few blocks south — The Flatiron Room is a two-year-old Chelsea whiskey parlor that showcases nightly live music and a collection of 1,000 regional and international whiskeys curated by owner and operator Tommy Tardie. Pick up a bottle you like after tasting flights that take you around the world, from Ireland to India, and the staff will tag and store your stash in a private locker. Or book a class upstairs with Heather Greene, the world’s foremost lady whiskey sommelier; she’ll school you on everything from peat to pronunciation, which goes a long way in discerning an Auchentoshan from a Bruichladdich. If you prefer your spirits shaken up, seasonal cocktails abound, including the “Pear Highball,” “Oaxaca Express,” and “Black Magic.”
