Tuesday is Election Day, so be sure to cast your ballot. Then spend the rest of the week hitting these five food events.

My Portugal: Recipes and Stories, 92nd Street Y, 1395 Lexington Avenue, Monday, 7 p.m.

Aldea’s George Mendes will be onstage talking about his love affair with Portuguese cuisine and the release of his new cookbook, My Portugal. The award-winning chef will be joined Top Chef Masters judge Francis Lam. Mendes will sign copies of his new book following the event. Reserve your $24 ticket through the 92nd Street Y’s website.

Grace’s Marketplace Grand Opening Celebration, Grace’s Marketplace, 1299 Second Avenue, Tuesday, noon

Grab a complimentary reusable shopping bag and snack on free samples at the brand-new Grace’s Marketplace. Attendees will have the chance to enter a raffle to win a gift basket from the marketplace, and can enjoy drinks from neighboring Whiskey & Wine Off 69. The new location includes an espresso bar, a trattoria with an open kitchen, and counter seating, in addition to its wide variety of specialty foods.

Secrets from Prune with Gabrielle Hamilton (with Eddie Huang), 92nd Street Y, 1395 Lexington Avenue, Wednesday, 7 p.m.

Celebrating her cookbook debut, Prune head honcho Gabrielle Hamilton will lead a discussion on how to ace some of the restaurant’s best dishes. Hamilton will discuss several of her recipes — there are nearly 250 in the book. Eddie Huang will also make an appearance. Tickets are $55 and include a signed copy of Hamilton’s book.

Urban Fishing, The Grey Lady, 77 Delancey Street, Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.

A panel of speakers — including an urban planner, an assistant professor at NYU, and the president of the NY Harbor Foundation — will address the current issues facing New York’s fishing industry. A few topics the group will touch upon include promoting sustainable fishing in New York and what steps are being taken to create sustainable waterfronts in the wake of disasters like Hurricane Sandy. Tickets are $5.

Pat LaFrieda Book Signing, Eataly, 200 Fifth Avenue, Thursday, 4 p.m.

Chat up Pat LaFrieda at the butcher counter this week. New York’s cleverest cleaver handler will be signing copies of his book Meat: Everything You Need to Know. The event is free to attend and will run until 7 p.m.; books are available for purchase at Eataly.
