When one restaurant’s doors close, another’s open in fast-paced New York City, and every Friday, we’ll fill you in on what opened up around town. This week: a West African-Haitian restaurant in the East Village, a dessert-focused spot in the West Village, and a new Japanese eatery in Brooklyn.
Dessert Club, 27 Bedford Street, 212-691-2426
Tomorrow, the team behind ChickaLicious brings us Dessert Club, a sugar-filled space with hybrid pastries like tres leches brûlée and cookie éclairs. Diners can also enjoy a $32 prix fixe menu that offers three courses. Dessert Club is now open daily.
Le Marécage, 137 First Avenue, 212-777-1677
Mamadou Bamba has lived in Stuy-Town for the past 35 years, and now, the Ivory Coast native has opened Le Marécage not far from his apartment. The West African-Haitian restaurant serves Haitian-style pate and West African pastels, and many other dishes unique to the community.
Salt + Charcoal, 171 Grand Street, Brooklyn, 718-782-2087
Japanese eatery Salt + Charcoal is open for business. Chef and partner Jiro Iida joined forces with Teruyuki Takayama and Kei Sugimoto for this venture. Diners can expect a few sashimi and sushi roll options as well as robata fare. The menu includes skewers such as duck, bacon-wrapped shrimp, and wagyu ribeye.
Sisters, 900 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, 347-763-2537
Flatbush Farm owner Damon Gorton brings us SISTERS, a new restaurant that aims to be a Clinton Hill neighborhood go-to. Gorton told us earlier this week that “the kitchen is relatively tiny. We’ll be doing what we do at the Farm, but scaled down.” Diners can expect a nice cocktail program, as well. SISTERS is slated to debut on Saturday, and will be open from 7 a.m. until 2 a.m. daily.
