Few things in life are more satisfying than fresh sausage, made from the juiciest animal parts mixed and mingled in one easy-to-eat form. Rosamunde Sausage Grill (285 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn; 718-388-2170) offers a prime selection of encased minced meats, all of which are made in house…for $8.50 or less, every day of the week.
The East Coast outpost of the boutique Bay Area chain makes all its links about 10 feet away from the bar. (There’s a big gleaming display with all the offerings right next to the kitchen.)
The spot serves a selection of sausages ranging from knockwurst and Greenpoint kielbasa ($6.50) to chicken merguez and vegan apple sage ($7.50) to duck and wild boar ($8.50). Each one comes on a bun with a choice of two toppings: sauerkraut, grilled onions, sweet peppers, hot peppers, or spicy beef chili. Or you can get it wrapped in bourbon bacon for an additional $2.
It’s hard to go wrong with any of the above, but we have a penchant for the cheddar bratwurst ($7.50). Sharp creamy cheese is mixed with savory pork inside a porcine casing. These things are so succulent, you have to be careful the cheese doesn’t erupt out — we’ve watched it spray all over someone’s purse.
