Although the Rangers-Devils rivalry is only 32 years old, it’s one of the bitterest in sports, and their confrontations are perfect for New Yorkers who want to see fans at their worst. A few fun facts: After a New York win, Rangers fans have burned Devils memorabilia, using the flames to light cigarettes outside the Garden. Devils fans hand out “Rangers Suck” confetti during home games, and the New Jersey crowd is also known to chant that very catchphrase whether they’re playing New York or not. As a longtime Rangers fan once said, “When I think of the New Jersey Devils, I think of…missing teeth, the distinct smell of urine, and infidelity.” This may be the perfect antidote to all that icky holiday good will.
