James Bridges’s Urban Cowboy (1980) is a wonderful enough movie in its own right — a warm and heartfelt dance between an early-stardom John Travolta and a fiery Debra Winger, the latter giving her breakout screen performance. But even it can benefit from the generous treatment of Nitehawk’s monthly “Country Brunchin’ ” series, which programs each of its films alongside a Southern-themed menu and a live performance from a country band. The group preceding the Urban Cowboy screening is the Brooklyn-based Tatters & Rags, who immerse their honky-tonk tunes in a post-punk sound. Music, movies, drinks, food — this is Sunday morning done with great flair.
