Oh yes, yes it is….Excuse us, we were just wholeheartedly agreeing with the title of this reading: Dating Is the Worst. Tonight’s event is a time for sharing, caring, and publicly scorning former flings. Expat author Melissa Pimentel launches her new novel, Love by the Book, based off of her real adventures/misadventures on the London dating scene (and we thought the Brits were supposed to be charming). Joining her is comedian Sara Benincasa, whose new novel, Great, is a female take on the Gatsby story set in the glossy, contemporary Hamptons. Rounding out the evening is Brendan Jay Sullivan with the greatest love of all: the love of Gaga. His memoir, Rivington Was Ours: Lady Gaga, the Lower East Side, and the Prime of Our Lives, is as much about his friend Stefani Germanotta before she took on the fame monster as it is about the LES during the last years it was even conceivable for an artist to afford rent there. Get ready to air your grievances, and don’t bring a date.
