We prefer to think of last fall’s launch of Simpson’s World, where you can stream any of the show’s 552 episodes on FXX, as less a stroke of corporate genius and more of a public service. After all, it’s introducing a brand-new generation to the greatest satirical work of our time (and the golden years thereof). Matt Groening created the multiple-Emmy-winning series that, at 26 years and still chugging, is the longest-running scripted show in television history. Tonight at “Love, Hate & Comics – The Friendship That Would Not Die,” he sits down with Lynda Barry, creator of the comic strip Ernie Pook’s Comeek, who has also been in the biz for more than two decades. They reminisce about the joys and pitfalls of a lifetime in cartoons, and driving each other crazy along the way.
