Unlucky in love? Unlucky in general? Own it! At Friday the 13th: A Celebration of Superstitions, the occult experts at Morbid Anatomy will help you confront, and learn to love, our culture’s more macabre folktales. Filmmaker-in-residence Ronni Thomas has teamed up with Mitch Horowitz, author of Occult America, to produce the new Web series Origins: Superstitions. All thirteen two-minute episodes screen tonight, as guests brave ladders, open umbrellas, and broken mirrors placed strategically throughout the museum. They will deliver a brief lecture on some of history’s most enduring superstitions, like knocking on wood, tossing the salt, and crossing paths with the dread black cat. Arrive on time to snag complimentary “Superstitious” cocktails while supplies last. Tickets are $13 (of course) or $20 for a double feature with tomorrow’s V-day-themed talk “Love Cults, Drugs, and the Hypnotic Arts.”
