If you didn’t get your fill of sweets on
Valentine’s Day, the Chocolate Expo, at Garden City’s Cradle of Aviation museum, is worth a ride on the LIRR. The expo, a traveling nationwide event, brings dozens of vendors to Long Island today, including plenty of local bakeries, chocolatiers, and winemakers. Stock up on truffles, fudge, and cookies, or sample Peruvian alfajores from Jessy’s Pastries, varietals from the Finger Lakes–based Knapp Winery, specialty lemonades from Frittering Away, and — everyone’s favorite — Thin Mints from the Girl Scouts’ stall. The $15 tickets also get you entry to the museum, which is located on a former Air Force base and contains 60 aircraft, some of which date back to the days of Charles Lindbergh.
