Whether you realized it or not, the first time you saw RuPaul Andre Charles was in 1989, as an extra in the B-52s’ “Love Shack” video. It was both a humble and a fabulous beginning for the queen who would go on to be a cultural icon, transitioning flawlessly from pop star to VH1 talk show host to producer of RuPaul’s Drag Race. In between he authored two books — Workin’ It and Lettin’ It All Hang Out — and became the first queen to hold a contract as “the first face” of MAC Cosmetics. Currently he’s working his way into the podcast arena as host of What’s the Tee? With Michelle Visage, but tonight he’ll sit down with Paul Holdengräber and talk all things drag, so bring your burning questions. The library is open.
