On Sunday, the usually traffic-clogged New York City streets will be car-free as 32,000 cyclists take over the city as part of Bike New York’s TD Five Borough Bike Tour. The 40-mile ride starts in Lower Manhattan, heads north through Central Park and the Bronx, and loops back down along the East River before crisscrossing through Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. While spots for riders may fill up fast, spectators are welcome along the entirety of the bike route and there is no entry fee to attend. Bike New York’s mission is to encourage New Yorkers to “grab life by the handlebars” and to raise funds to provide no-cost biking experiences throughout the five boroughs. The Five Borough Bike Tour is the largest charitable bike ride in the world.
