National Poetry Month is over, but the Poetry Project, a nonprofit that promotes the craft year round, hosts Spring Thing, its annual spring fundraiser, tonight at St. Mark’s Church. Readers include John Giorno, the prolific creator of ten books and dozens of recordings, founder of the AIDS Treatment Project, and collaborator with such NYC heavyweights as Patti Smith, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Laurie Anderson. Also performing are Dia Felix, a novelist and independent filmmaker; Miguel Gutierrez, a Brooklyn-based dancer and author of a book of performance texts; and David Grubbs, a musician known for his partnerships with visual artists and acclaimed authors like Rick Moody. The show is followed by a reception.
