Alex Guarnaschelli’s $45 brunch is sure to please even the pickiest of moms. Make sure you get a pastry basket for the table — you don’t want to miss out on lemon allspice coffee cake and apple spiced muffins topped with cinnamon streusel.
Fig and Olive (420 West 13th Street)
This Meatpacking powerhouse delivers a quintessential brunch experience. The lobster roll is everything you could ask for, even though it comes on a round bun rather than a long bun for some reason. You’ll also be well positioned for a post-brunch walk on the High Line.
Sage General Store (24 Jackson Avenue, Queens)
For more than eighteen years, this cute and cozy Long Island City staple has been all about the bacon. Check out the bacon ricotta crème fraîche pizza, and follow it up with a bacon double chocolate brownie. There’s even a three-course bacon tasting menu, with a sampling of bacons (peppered, slab cut, and applewood smoked).
The Good Fork
(391 Van Brunt Street, Brooklyn)
Thoughtful renditions of classic brunch items sit alongside dumplings and bibimbap with skirt steak at this neighborhood favorite that’s well worth traveling to. The yogurt is made in house. And there’s a patio out back. Winning.
Del Posto (85 Tenth Avenue)
Push the boat out in a big way with the $126 tasting menu, which highlights spring vegetables in the most opulent and elegant fashion. Maybe the truffled beef crudo with crispy salsify chips will make up for the fact that you didn’t just have grandchildren already. Maybe.
Sarabeth’s (381 Park Avenue South)
You know this brunch is going to be on the money. That jam! That scrambled egg stuffed popover! Those lump crab crab-cakes! That jam!
Il Buco Alimentari (53 Great Jones Street)
Huckleberry compote–hibiscus butter–mascarpone waffles are pretty much the last word in waffles. There’s also a lasagna made with sausages.
The Smith (956 Second Avenue; 1900 Broadway)
As solid an eggs benedict as you could hope to find, and great french fries to boot. Can’t go wrong, really.
Gran Electrica (5 Front Street, Brooklyn)
If the weather’s fine on Sunday, the patio opens up for 60 more diners, so check in on Saturday afternoon to see what’s up. Some element of risk here table-wise, but what an upside: brunch tacos, award-winning margaritas, and That View.
