Psych fiends and Britanniacs, rejoice: Super Furry Animals haven’t made their way to New York City in over six years, but that’s all about to change, as the Welsh rock quintet just confirmed their headlining slot for 2015’s 4Knots Music Festival.
The festival is already set to bring Mikal Cronin, Twin Peaks, Happyness, Meatbodies, and Heaters to Hudson River Park, and Super Furry Animals will join them to conjure experimental, heady (and always tuneful) riffage on Pier 84. Super Furry Animals have kept relatively quiet in recent years, with their latest release dating back to 2009’s Dark Days/Light Years. They’re playing select dates this summer in support of the fifteenth anniversary and reissue of their pivotal (and entirely Welsh-language!) Mwng, and 4Knots serves as the group’s only announced American tour date on the horizon.
4Knots is set to take place on July 11 from 1 to 10 p.m., rain or shine, and both all-ages general admission and 21+ VIP tickets are now available. While a GA ticket gets you in and offers up a day full of music with sprawling views of the Hudson River, the VIP upgrade gets you not only into 4Knots but also on board the Hornblower Infinity Cruise Ship, which will be docked alongside Pier 84.
For more information — and announcements regarding lineup additions, ’cause we’ve still got more music coming your way — follow 4Knots on Twitter and keep tabs on the festival via Facebook, or simply click here for all things 4Knots leading up to July 11.
