The title of her upcoming film — Trainwreck — is actually a far cry from the reality of Amy Schumer’s career at present, though then again maybe Galactic Ascent or Promontory Summit would be laying it on kinda thick. The comedian has been turning heads and gaining fans in droves with her controversial yet progressive take on our twisted culture — and now she can add “Opener for a Superstar” to her long list of achievements. Schumer announced via Twitter today that she will open all three New York City dates on Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour. Madge is set to play Madison Square Garden on September 16 and 17, then to cross boroughs for a September 19 show at the Barclays Center.

Schumer wrote and stars in Trainwreck, which hits theaters July 17. The film has already made headlines for its celebrity-studded cast, which features not only an ensemble of masterful contemporary comedians, including Bill Hader and Vanessa Bayer, but a gang of royal misfits ranging from LeBron James to Daniel Radcliffe. The film is directed by Judd Apatow, a current king of comedy whose eye for picking underrated talent is well established. Few comedies this summer seem to be packing as much heat and potential as this one.
Madonna, on the other hand, is always reminding us why she’s the Queen of Pop — most recently through the music video for her single “Bitch I’m Madonna,” which features her own star-laden troupe and was released exclusively through Tidal this week. (The song itself hails from Rebel Heart, Madonna’s thirteenth album, released this past March.)
As if tickets for Madonna in NYC weren’t going to be tricky enough to obtain…
