Summer temperatures may start creeping upwards, but now’s the time to start thinking ahead, before the hottest tickets for the New York City Food and Wine Festival in October sell out. On sale to the public starting today, the 8th annual festival benefiting the Food Bank for New York City and No Kid Hungry will once again spread out all over the city from October 15th through the 18th.
Some high-octane favorites are returning, like Burger Bash, Jets + Chefs, Tacos & Tequila, and Meatopia — this year a tribute to the late Josh Ozersky, who founded it. New eats include a Sweet Masquerade with Chef Dominique Ansel, a ramen party hosted by Chrissy Teigen and Serious Eats’ J. Kenji Lopez-Alt, a Midnight Jazz Breakfast with Rev Run and Justine Simons, and a NY Hot Dog Competition hosted by Andrew Zimmern.
To counter the gluttony, Cooking Channel’s Haylie Duff will host Veg Out with Hungryroot, where yoga classes, meditation, and mini spa therapies compete for attention against Little Beet Table chef Franklin Becker’s plates of organic and locally-sourced ingredients.
And, of course, for the consummate foodies there are plenty of classes and intimate dinners with New York chefs Bill Telepan, David Bouley, Lidia Bastianich and Enrique Olvera, or visiting chefs Alice Waters, Rainer Becker, Leonor Espinosa and Virgilio Martinez.
“The Festival truly has something for everyone’s taste buds — and wallet,” says festival founder and director Lee Brian Schrager. “My advice is always to choose events that suit your style.” Tickets to popular events, classes and dinners sell out particularly fast, so move quickly.
We’ll see you there in October.
