This Is Stand-Up: Jim Gaffigan from Voice Media Group on Vimeo.
Whether or not he wants to admit it, comedian Jim Gaffigan is famous. He just performed stand-up for the Pope, and he’ll be headlining Madison Square Garden this winter. In this episode of This is Stand-Up, Gaffigan talks about fame — which was never his goal. He wants to be known as a substance guy.
“I never wanted to be famous. I don’t wanted to be on the cover of Rolling Stone. I just want to be known as a substance guy, people who come to my show, they are not coming to see my outfit, or stories of me with celebrities or bag on the President. And there is nothing wrong with that but I do aspire the material to be evergreen.”
You can catch Gaffigan on his Contagious tour stop at Madison Square Garden on December 12, and on his TV Land sitcom, The Jim Gaffigan Show — which he co-created alongside his wife, Jeannie Gaffigan.
