On a drizzly day far from the Emerald Isle, the Village Voice was on the lookout for the elusive, brew-guzzling disciples of St. Patrick seen but once a year on March 17. The first reports of the absinthe-tinted hordes came with the sightings of doll-sized leprechaun hats and green lamé in the afternoon.
As the day approached beer o’clock, we finally came upon some emerald partiers of the St. Patty’s PubCrawl. This mass of pub crawlers totally hulked out for St. Patrick’s Day. Dozens of beer lovers took over bars throughout Manhattan; the holiday spirit was practically radioactive!
