Blue Ribbon Beer Garden kicks off the spring season this weekend. Get ready for a bar stacked with frozen Kirin Ichiban, half bottles of wine, and sangria. The food menu will include Blue Ribbon’s fried chicken sandwich as well as snacks like pork rinds and chocolate chip cookies.

Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

New York’s largest vegetarian food festival returns this weekend, featuring samples from over 120 exhibitors. How Not to Die author Dr. Michael Greger is one of several featured guests at the festival, with cookbook signings and demonstrations planned throughout the weekend. Tickets will be available at the door for $35, and advance tickets are available here.

Kentucky Derby Parties

Wondering where to watch “the most exciting two minutes in sports”? Hotel Chantelle is hosting a Kentucky Derby party where a $20 ticket will get you access to three floors of TV screens along with drink specials at the bar. At Saxon + Parole, guests are encouraged to don Derby Day garb while slurping oysters and feasting on other seafood — tickets are available here. Watermark Bar and American Whiskey will also show the race and have Kentucky Derby–themed activities.

A Taste of Rockaway Beach

Sample food from seventeen Rockaway Beach restaurants and embark your own impromptu food crawl. Restaurants taking part in the Taste include Thai Rock, Whit’s End, Elegante, and more — with all restaurants located a just a short distance from one another. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 on the day of the event.

Chocolate + Flowers for Mother’s Day

Sunday, 2 p.m.

Skip the same old Mother’s Day brunch and head to Liddabit Sweets’ headquarters for a chocolate and flower workshop. Get a tour of Liddabit’s kitchen before learning how to make chocolate treats to bring home. Afterward, you’ll be able to arrange your own Mother’s Day bouquet.
