Is it too much to ask that a series with poverty in the title house its main characters in a dingy craphole in Canarsie? Especially if one of the show’s main conceits is that these women are trying to save up to get an indie cupcake business off the ground rather than waste money on rent? Instead, the Williamsburg haven that Max Black (Kat Dennings) and Caroline Channing (Beth Behrs) share on Two Broke Girls couldn’t be cooler, with exposed-brick walls, gorgeous hardwood floors, a fantastic kitchen, and a backyard big enough for former socialite Caroline to keep her pet horse — nope, not a typo — who during Season One used to pop his head through the living-room window like a modern-day Mister Ed. Maybe in 1996 two diner waitresses could have afforded 1,000-plus square feet off the L train, but today, with Corcoran listing one-bedrooms ranging from $3,000 to $6,400 per month? Please. I’d believe a talking horse first.
