Over the past three decades, guitarist Bill Frisell has reinvented his identity from Naked City jazz-metal deconstructionist to folk-music interpreter, and through it all, he’s honed a unique approach to the instrument built from shimmering atmospherics and almost aurally impossible solos. Performing with Sam Amidon—born a year before Frisell’s 1982 solo debut—Frisell will traverse folk and jazz in this last of three live collaborations between the pair. Judging from the one song by the pair that is available, “Saro,” each musician’s personal style complements the other surprisingly well.
