On Tuesday, December 4 at 7 p.m., Cobble Hill’s BookCourt (this year’s Best Of New York winner for best bookstore) will host a panel discussion of five women writers, moderated by playwright and Executive Director of Hedgebrook, a women writers retreat in Washington state, Amy Wheeler. The event features strong voices in the literary community, like Martha Southgate, author of four novels including her most recent The Taste of Salt; Rahna Reiko Rizzuto, whose memoir Hiroshima in the Morning is a National Book Critics Circle Finalist; Lisa Dierbeck, author of the New York Times Notable Book The Autobiography of Jenny X and One Pill Makes You Smaller; and writer and editor Holly Morris, author of Adventure Divas: Searching the Globe for a New Kind of Heroine, an “Editor’s Choice” and “Notable Book of the Year” from the Times. The night’s lineup suggests it will breed a friendly, roundtable chat about women moving forward in the literary community, and how that is done.
