Daniel Angerer Pulls the Plug on Little Cheese Pub and His Planned Austrian Wine Bar

In June, Daniel Angerer announced he would close Klee Brasserie, his five-year-old Austrian restaurant in Chelsea, and reopen it this fall as an Austrian wine bar. The announcement came a month after Angerer and his wife and business partner, Lori Mason, decided to replace their struggling Brats: Dogs & Wieners with the Little Cheese Pub. But now their plans have taken another turn: Angerer and Mason are selling both restaurants.

Mason told Eater that Angerer has officially signed on with a “growing restaurant group that shares his passion for bringing sustainable, local fare on a larger scale.” Although Mason declined to name the group, Stephen Starr has lately been busy expanding his New York portfolio. Whatever the case, Angerer plans to open a new restaurant with the group in mid-September.
