DISCOMFORT INN

by

Many of us who live in New York City rarely see the inside of a hotel here, but increasingly, theater is giving us the opportunity to experience how the other half vacations. The Amoralists are the latest in a string of theater companies taking up residence inside our city’s temporary lodgings. Their HotelMotel is a double bill of plays, by Adam Rapp and Derek Ahonen, set—and performed—in a hotel room. Rapp’s Animals and Plants concerns a couple of drug runners snowed into a motel in the Appalachians. Ahonen’s Pink Knees on Pale Skin follows the group orgy exploits of two dissatisfied married couples. Only 20 audience members get to cram into the room per show, so plan ahead.

Mondays, Wednesdays-Sundays, 7 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Aug. 4. Continues through Oct. 10, 2011
