A group of LGBT and straight-ally NBC Universal employees called OUT@NBCUniversal marched in the New York City St. Patrick’s Day parade on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, the first time in the parade’s history a group was allowed to march with LGBT banners. Both Guinness and Heineken pulled their sponsorship just before the 2014 edition over the matter but again backed it after it was announced in September 2014 that OUT@NBCUniversal would be allowed to march. The attempt at inclusion hasn’t swayed NYC’s Irish Queers, who on their blog wrote that OUT@NBCUniversal is a “corporate gay/straight/marketing alliance that’s marching in the antigay parade to the exclusion of the actual Irish queer groups who have been shoved aside for the last quarter century.”
