Good Food Jobs Promises “Meaningful Food Work”

For most people looking for jobs in the food and restaurant industry, Craigslist is, for better or worse, a one-stop shopping destination. But while it lists plenty of opportunities for would-be line cooks, servers, shot girls, and social butterflies, it’s lacking in gigs that don’t involve tips and/or back-breaking labor. Fortunately, there will soon be greener pastures for job seekers to graze: this summer will bring Good Food Jobs, a website that is, according to its Twitter page, “a gastro-job search tool designed to link people looking for meaningful food work with the businesses that need them.”

The site was founded by Taylor Cocalis, a former Murray’s Cheese manager, and Dorothy Neagle, who formerly worked at an architecture firm.

In addition to its active Twitter account, GFJ is also listing jobs through its Facebook page: right now, there’s a slew of interesting opportunities that include Manager of Business Development at Vermont Soy, Intern/Cook’s Assistant at a biodynamic wine producer and farm in Italy, and Pantry Manager for the West Side Campaign Against Hunger here in New York.

All of which sounds far more promising than, say, bartending in a thong bikini.
