Hurricane Irene Relief: Food & Supplies Desperately Needed [Updated]

This is the first big citywide weekend of the drive to collect items needed by New York farmers who were quite literally blown away by Hurricane Irene, and flooded out, too. Following is an updated list of times and drop-off points beginning this weekend, from 8 a.m. till 2 p.m., please:

Greenmarket Donation Collection Sites
Hurricane Relief for Upstate Communities Collections will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at markets on the dates listed below.

Manhattan Greenmarkets

Union Square: Union Square North (in pavilion), Saturdays 10/1, 10/8
97th St: 97th St btw Columbus & Amsterdam, Fridays 9/30, 10/7
Abingdon Square: 12th St & 8th Ave, Saturdays 10/1, 10/8

Brooklyn Greenmarkets

Grand Army Plaza: Prospect Pk W & Flatbush, Saturdays 10/1, 10/8
Ft. Greene: Washington Pk and Dekalb, Saturdays 10/1, 10/8

Queens Greenmarkets

Staten Island Greenmarkets

The program is being sponsored by City Harvest, Regional Food Bank, Move for Hunger, and GrowNYC, the umbrella organization that includes the Greenmarkets. New York State Regional Food Bank will do the distribution.
