When you go to the bodega or supermarket to buy milk, the packaging is invisible — you reach for the product without really looking at it, dump the bottle or carton in a red plastic basket, and proceed with your other shopping tasks. But it doesn’t have to be that way, according to Igor Ovsyannykov of the blog InspirationFeed.com.
He accounts for the lack of imagination in contemporary milk packaging by citing the ephemeral nature of the product: “Business wise, there is no point to spend money on a design that will get thrown away in a couple of days (I’m not saying this is what every single company thinks, but most of them do).”
To counter this stultifying negativity, Ovsyannykov has collected 30 milk packaging designs, some from students, others from professional designers. Here are four more of our favorites.
