If you’re that rare breed of New Yorker who actually owns a car (or if you’re a cab driver), we’ve got good news; New York cops issued 32 percent fewer traffic tickets last week than they did last year on the same week. This year they issued 11,320 summonses compared to last years’ 16,695. This sharp drop came after higher-ups in the department “mandated that cops would be docked 10 vacation days if any of their cases fell apart because of a procedural flub.” Take advantage of this rare opportunity to drive the streets of NYC with slightly less fear of getting slammed with a court date.
